This is the only grocery store in Linden. Besides having regular groceries they also have a bakery and a hot deli. For a sit down breakfast they might have the best in town.
Very, Very local. Excellent biscuits (crisp bottom, flakey top, rich center) and salted pork slices - perhaps some of the best in TN. This is the type of place that locals meet for breakfast and share farming and lumber stories. They kind of place where one's spouse will call-in and the cook announces, "Clem, Jenny called and wants you to bring milk home". Very hospitable regulars who are comfortably amused by polite visitors. |

Cane Creek Mennonite Community
Hidden Gem in Middle Tennessee (americanroads.net)
Near the back of the cemetery there is an unusual structure. It appeared to be a tiny building with a tombstone on its front instead of a door. The stone read "To our father and mother, E. M and Mary Grain." The dates showed E. M. had died at age 75 in December 1898. Mary died just the next month in January 1890. E. M. E. M. was a stonemason. His children built the grave house to protect the bodies of their parents. |
| I had never seen a grave house before but I found out grave houses were a common Appalachian custom especially around parts of Tennessee. They are wooden structures built to cover one or more graves. The custom began to appear in the 1840s. From 1870 and 1900, the structures were built larger over time until some resembled small houses. This one had amazing stone work over the tombstone. |

The community at Lobelville is a Plain dress, horse-and-buggy community, that is different from most other Old Order Mennonite and Amish communities in being rather intentional than traditional. They do not have an Ordnung |
| (set of rules) and they are not organized as a strict church with all people in the community as members. Some of their practices are considered unorthodox and outside the Old Order fold. For example, they own a van they use for long distance travel instead of hiring drivers. They dress similar to the Noah Hoover Mennonites but men mostly do not wear hats. |
